Data Encapsulation:

Data encapsulation is nothing but adding protocol information to the data when it passes through the layers. It is done when data is being send that is at the sender side.

Data Decapsulation:

Data decapsulation is removing the protocol information from data when it passes through layers.

This is done when data is received at the receiver side.
